Stay near Havelte

Havelte is one of the better-known villages of south-west Drenthe: hunebedden D53 and D54, woods, heath and the Havelterberg. In season the village fills up. Staying in Havelte itself is possible, but not always quiet or available. A B&B near Havelte, on the edge of Meppel, reverses that: you plan the hunebedden and a heath loop by day, and sleep where it is quiet.

We are not in Havelte. The Evesingehus stands in Meppel. The drive is straightforward, fine as a day trip or a longer bike loop. As with Giethoorn we do not pretend to be the tourist village – we promise a quiet base beside it.

Havelte and hunebedden. Heath and woods. An afternoon in Meppel. If you want more, you drive to the Dwingelderveld. Cyclists use the south-west Drenthe node network. Afterwards you come back to a yard with a view, not a car park by a village hotel.
